11 Essential Attachments for Your KitchenAid Mixer

Must Try

Time and time again, KitchenAid wins the title of the best stand mixer on the market. As the original inventors of the world’s first-ever standing mixer, it’s no surprise that it has maintained its reputation, favored in professional kitchens across the globe. For me, KitchenAid is the top of the range.

What is a stand mixer? It’s a better and more versatile version of your classic handheld mixer. With no need to hold a device, it’s a convenient appliance and a real time saver.

Now, while some may look at a KitchenAid stand mixer and question its price tag, did you realize that the appliance is much more than just a mixer? Unlike many other brands, KitchenAid is customizable and convertible. This is all thanks to its clever design, allowing you to simply add on extra attachments and accessories to the device via the base or power motor.

This ends up saving you money and kitchen space, eliminating the need for multiple free-standing appliances. For example, you can get an ice cream maker, pasta machine, and meat grinder out of the KitchenAid mixer.

Say goodbye to 10 million kitchen appliances all over the show and hello to one incredible (and powerful) machine that does it all.

KitchenAid attachments are all sold separately. Start with some of the basics and see how you enjoy using them. Or, if you’re an avid cook or baker, you’ll find yourself in seventh heaven with the wide KitchenAid mixer attachments list.

KitchenAid 3-Piece Pasta Roller & Cutter Attachment, $529.99

Do you love making homemade pasta? My favorite dough to work with is pasta dough. Nothing is more satisfying than rolling out thin egg flour sheets and then finally cutting out my pasta into tagliatelle or spaghetti via my pasta machine.

KitchenAid’s pasta attachment is my very top pick among the extra bits and bobs that fit onto the KitchenAid stand mixer. Not only is it my ultimate, but it’s one of the most beloved and popular of the attachments. Versatile too, you can also swap pasta dough for noodle dough, both egg or rice-flour-based.

Among consumer reviews, the three-piece set is constantly raved about, especially for its quality, and gives you a precise and clean pasta cut. The pasta roller has eight thickness settings (which you’ll manually set via the side dial). The two cutters include a fettuccine and a spaghetti one. Use the cleaning brush to dust off excess flour in between the crevices of the stainless steel attachments.

KitchenAid 3-Piece Pasta Roller & Cutter Attachment is priced at $529.99 from Amazon.

KitchenAid Stainless Steel Bowl, 4.5-Quart, $134.83

One can never have enough mixing bowls, right? What happens when you’re baking and you need to make multiple batters? Eliminate the hassle of constantly transferring mixtures and wasting time, and add an extra bowl for your KitchenAid stand mixer.

Many of the KitchenAid stand mixer gadgets are inserted either on the side of the device or from the top nose, but the KitchenAid mixer bowl is slotted into the mixer from the bottom base.

The stainless steel 4.5-quart bowl has a convenient handle on the side (love this), and is compatible with KitchenAid Tilt-Head Stand Mixers models K45, K45SS, KSM75, KSM90, KSM95, KSM100, KSM103, and KSM110.

It’s one of the most frequently purchased KitchenAid attachments.

KitchenAid Shaved Ice Attachment, $239

Impress your guests the next time you’re entertaining by making your own bingsu at home, thanks to the KitchenAid Shaved Ice attachment! Or, it’s a nifty companion for kids’ birthday parties as well.

Texture-wise, enjoy a super light shaved ice dessert that melts in your mouth, snowflake-style.

Two blades allow you to either make super fine shaved ice or create your ice with a slightly coarser texture using the hand-shaved blade. Instead of shaving the ice, you can also use the device to freeze liquids, from water to juice, even cream. It comes with four ice molds.

KitchenAid Shaved Ice Attachment is priced at $239 from Lazada and Shopee.

KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder, $239.26

KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder, $239.26

My cheese grater is one of those kitchen utensils that is awkward in size. Therefore, I always have to slot it into one of my larger kitchen cupboard drawers, even though it’s not actually massive. I just end up plonking it among my baking trays.

My best bit about the KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder is how small in size the graters are, and they easily slot into one another like a babushka doll. Store them away in the utensil drawer, along with serving spoons, cutlery, and the like.

This KitchenAid mixer attachment set includes three pieces: two separate cheese graters for differing thicknesses, as well as a fruit and vegetable slicer. The slicer is ideal for getting even slices of produce, from cucumbers (for sushi) to onions.

KitchenAid Fresh Prep Slicer/Shredder is priced at $239.26 from Shopee.

KitchenAid Bowl-Lift Flex Edge Beater, $49.95

KitchenAid Bowl-Lift Flex Edge Beater, $49.95

This specific KitchenAid paddle attachment is one of the brand’s most bought attachment tools. You can also find a stainless steel KitchenAid beater, but with the flex edge beater, the paddle’s material is remarkably more flexible. It scrapes up all the mixture that usually gets flicked to the side of the bowl.

You won’t have to stop-start the KitchenAid stand mixer to lap up the extra bits of mixture sticking to the bowl’s edges. This speeds up your prep work when you think about it.

Instead of moving in a circular shape, it targets various angles. The edge beater is especially great for stiffer batters, such as cookie dough. This tool is dishwasher-safe.

It is suitable for KitchenAid bowl-lift stand mixers models KD2661, KL26M, KP26M1, KP26M8, KP26N9, KV25G, and KV25M. Enjoy a one-year warranty.

KitchenAid Bowl-Lift Flex Edge Beater is priced at $49.95 from Amazon.

KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment 5FGA, $199

Burger nights just got a whole lot more fun using the KitchenAid Food Grinder! For home cooks who love experimenting and playing around, this tool takes all the effort out of things for you.

Purchase your meat from your neighborhood butcher, like wagyu or beef tenderloin, ribeye, picanha, brisket, lamb rump, pork tenderloin, even chicken or duck breast. Then, via the top compartment, you add the raw protein and feed it through the coarse grinding plate.

But it’s not just meat that works with the attachment. Using the fine grinding plate, grate hard cheeses like parmesan or even make your own bread crumbs with stale bread. The grinder attaches to the power hub, which generates the grinder. It also includes a food stomper.

Good to know: This food grinder is plastic, but KitchenAid also has a stainless steel version if you prefer this material.

KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment 5FGA is priced at $199 from Lazada.

KitchenAid KSM1APC Spiralizer with Peel/Core and Slice Attachment, $161.83

Woo the socks off your guests by creating the most creative spiral decorations for your food, salads, cakes, and tartlets using the KitchenAid Spiralizer. Or more than just fun patterns, there’s so much you can make using the spiraliser tool, like zucchini noodles or crispy sweet potato ribbons.

The blades work in conjunction with the stand mixer’s speed control setting. Choose either the fine or medium-thickness spiralizer blade. Then there’s the spiral slice blades with a small and large core hole, which are ideal for conveniently removing apple cores or even the center of fruits and vegetables if you’d like to fill them.

The spiral peeling blade automatically peels produce for you, from potatoes to pears. All attachments are 100% metal and super durable.

KitchenAid KSM1APC Spiralizer with Peel/Core and Slice Attachment is priced at $161.83 from Amazon.

KitchenAid Stainless Steel Pastry Beater for KitchenAid Tilt Head Stand Mixers, $109

KitchenAid Stainless Steel Pastry Beater, $109

Among these incredible stand mixer attachments, KitchenAid’s pastry beater is extremely popular, not to mention a very handy tool to have in your kitchen repertoire.

Is baking your game? Professional bakers, pastry chefs, or avid home bakers, change your life/pastry game with this stainless steel tool. Cutting cold butter for pastry doughs never looked so easy!

Many consumers who know what they’re doing in the kitchen have commented on how much flakier their pastry is using this specific pastry beater. I have to point out, though, if you already have the KitchenAid paddle, that also chops up butter well. But if you bake often, this one is very much worth it.

Do you prefer a plastic pastry beater over a stainless steel one? KitchenAid has a plastic option, too, which is slightly cheaper.

KitchenAid Stainless Steel Pastry Beater for KitchenAid® Tilt Head Stand Mixers is priced at $109 from KitchenAid.

KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment, $249

KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment, $249

I am obsessed with the KitchenAid ice cream maker attachment. I went through a severe ice cream-making stage, imagining all sorts of delicious flavors, from matcha to spiced chai ice cream. This accessory is another one of my personal best and most-used.

Whether it’s gelato or sorbet, feel like a pukka Italian with your KitchenAid ice cream maker.

The 1.9-liter ice cream bowl whips up the equivalent of about eight cups of frozen treats. It’s suitable for all KitchenAid Tilt-Head stand mixers (except for the mini models) and all KitchenAid Bowl-Lift Stand Mixers (but not the 5, 5.5, and 6 Quart models K5SS, KSM50, KSM500, and KSM450).

P.S. As with any ice cream maker, you have to freeze the bowl 15 to 24 hours before using the device. Ice cream freezes in two to four hours.

KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment is priced at $249 from KitchenAid.

KitchenAid Stand Mixer Attachment, 6-Wire Mixer Whisk, $119

KitchenAid Stand Mixer Attachment, 6-Wire Mixer Whisk, $119

For those who think a whisk doesn’t make a difference, you obviously haven’t been cooking enough. Apart from better aeration, a larger whisk allows more air flow, and in my humble opinion, creates a fluffier texture.

Enjoy the most velvety scrambled eggs or cream with KitchenAid’s six-wire mixer whisk, designed as a classic balloon whisk. I’d say that this whisk is more suitable for such mixtures. Your French whisk goes well with sauce-making.

If you’re making big batch quantities, this size whisk is ideal and is able to whisk up a large mixture.

The Kitchenaid whisk attachment is suitable for 4.3, 4.7, and 4.8-liter tilt-head mixers.

KitchenAid Stand Mixer Attachment, 6-Wire Mixer Whisk is priced at $119 from Amazon.

KitchenAid KSMC7QDH Stainless Steel Dough Hook Attachment, $59

KitchenAid KSMC7QDH Stainless Steel Dough Hook Attachment, $59

Do you already own a pasta machine, or perhaps the KitchenAid pasta attachment is a bit out of your budget range? Still enjoy making the perfect dough using your KitchenAid stand mixer with the stainless steel dough hook.

It also means you don’t have to get your hands all messy. A dough hook is designed to mimic the motion you’d make when using your hands to knead dough. This is the most important part of making pasta, as kneading activates the gluten.

Pasta isn’t the only dough the hook works for. Use it for doughs like pizza, focaccia, bread, and pastries.

Although it is listed as a dough hook, I find it multipurpose. Mash cooked potatoes or avocado, mix mince for meatballs, or shred already cooked meat, from chicken to beef.

KitchenAid KSMC7QDH Stainless Steel Dough Hook Attachment is priced at $59 from Amazon.
