Active Adult and Senior Expo at the Katz JCC: A Celebration of Health and Community

MARGATE – The Marjorie and Lewis Katz Jewish Community Center (JCC) is excited to announce its annual Active Adult and Senior Expo, taking place on September 25 and 26. This vibrant event will be held at 501 N. Jerome Ave., and is designed for those over the age of 55. Best of all? It’s completely free and open to the public!

A Focus on Active Aging

This year’s expo promises to deliver more than just essential health screenings. With a renewed emphasis on active aging, attendees can expect a full-spectrum experience that incorporates fitness, beauty, food, and fun. The aim is to foster a lively atmosphere where both seniors and active adults can engage with various resources and activities.

Bridget Giblin, the Katz JCC Adult & Community Program Director, expressed her enthusiasm for the event: “This year’s Expo will continue to offer essential health services for seniors throughout Atlantic County, but we’re also excited to expand the experience for active adults.” The integration of wellness and lifestyle options aims to create an engaging and informative environment for everyone involved.

Health Screenings and Vaccinations

Health is a priority at the expo, with attendees having access to several important vaccinations, including flu shots, updated COVID-19 vaccines, and others such as RSV, pneumonia, shingles, TDAP, and Hepatitis A/B. Participants are encouraged to bring their insurance cards along to make the most of these services.

By prioritizing health, the event not only supports individual wellness but also fosters a sense of community responsibility, motivating participants to take proactive steps in safeguarding their health.

Fitness and Healthy Living Demonstrations

Get ready for some hands-on fun! The expo will feature interactive sessions that include fitness and movement demonstrations alongside healthy cooking presentations. These engaging activities are designed to inspire attendees to adopt a more active and health-conscious lifestyle.

And for those who appreciate a finer touch in life, wine tastings will also be incorporated into the event. This not only educates attendees about different varietals but also encourages social interaction and community bonding.

The Red Cross Blood Drive

In addition to health screenings, the expo will feature a Red Cross Blood Drive. This initiative presents an excellent opportunity for attendees to give back while participating in a community event. Donating blood is a vital way to support local healthcare needs, and the drive serves as a meaningful addition to the expo’s mission of promoting wellness.

Exhibitor Booths and Community Resources

The event will showcase a wide array of vendors across several categories, catering to both seniors and active adults. With booths offering services ranging from healthcare to home improvement, beauty, and beyond, attendees will have plenty of resources to explore.

Local businesses and organizations are coming together to ensure that participants leave the expo enriched and empowered with knowledge about the various services available to them.

Giveaways and Refreshments

A lively event wouldn’t be complete without some exciting takeaways! Throughout both days of the expo, attendees can look forward to complimentary snacks, raffles, and fun surprises. This sense of celebration adds a festive element to the informative nature of the event, encouraging attendees to mingle and enjoy themselves.

Commitment to Community Wellness

What truly sets the Katz JCC Expo apart is its commitment to enhancing the lives of older adults in the community. CEO Marg Rosenblatt states, “We continue to grow this event because we understand the importance of providing access to resources, education, and engaging experiences for older adults.” This perspective highlights the center’s dedication to wellness, connection, and care.
