Discover Heart-Healthy Cooking at Taylorville Memorial Hospital
TAYLORVILLE – Mark your calendars for an exciting opportunity to enhance your cooking skills and promote heart health! On February 26, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, Taylorville Memorial Hospital (TMH), in collaboration with the University of Illinois Extension office, will host a free cooking class dedicated to the power of protein and its benefits for heart health.
The Class Experience
This engaging and interactive class will delve into the significance of protein in your diet. Participants will experience hands-on cooking, allowing them to explore various sources of protein, both animal-based and plant-based. Understanding the different types of proteins is crucial for maintaining a balanced diet and supporting your body’s nutritional needs.
Led by Lisa Peterson, MS, a knowledgeable Nutrition & Wellness Extension Educator, the class promises to be both informative and practical. Lisa will share insights on managing cholesterol through smart food choices and provide valuable tips for creating balanced meals.
Course Details
The cooking class will be held in Conference Room 179 at TMH. To participate, attendees must register in advance at the following link: TMH Cooking Class Registration. For your convenience, parking is available in Lot 4, located behind the hospital, right next to the meeting room.

The initiative for these classes stems from a recent Community Health Needs Assessment survey, which revealed a local demand for increased nutrition education and improved access to healthy foods.
